A recent report came through patents filed by TCL that smartphones into Smartwatch conversion can be possibly in tries to get advantages of foldable phones. CNET reported in their news article.
Chinese television company even want to be in the world of foldable smartphones but in a slightly different way. They recently had a patent that shows their interest in developing such a foldable smartphone which would amaze the world.

This new report is actually good to convert such a foldable display which can convert a smartphone into a smartwatch. TCL makes phones through Alcatel and BlackBerry the most familiar Brands.
How Does the Patent look Like?
It is also reported that the company is working on five foldable devices but only one of them can be converted from a smartphone into a smartwatch. Others include 2 flexible tablets, 2 flexible smartphones but one this smartwatch.
Firstly last month an executive from the company told CNET that TCL could release that kind of smartphone by 2020. But there were no concrete pieces of evidence. After this patent, we can say that the company is in a good position of research on flexible displays.
No more details like the processor, ram, storage, and battery details are available till now of this beast. Maybe the OS will be designed so to be compatible with both smartphone and smartwatch while converting the smartphone into a smartwatch.
Other Companies are also Working?
Yes, other big tech giants like Samsung and Google as software are working on flexible displays but a startup from China has introduced a new phone. A company named Royole recently at CES released it's first phone names FlexPai. This phone has a giant display like a tablet and folds inside to take the form of a smartphone.

Developing a flexible display that can convert a smartphone into a smartwatch is a very good but unique idea. Someone had to start this idea. We see revolutions in the tech industry every day. Someday a new technology comes out and someday a new trend.
Until this idea is refined and passed through several improvements this cannot be as good. But tech giants need to make this as good as a revolution.
This should have been taken in mind that TCL is not alone in this. Other big competitors can come like Samsung and big new startups.
